Job Description

We are hiring CMM Programmer uses specialized software to create and execute programs for CMM machines, which are used to measure the physical geometrical characteristics of an object. They work in industries such as aerospace, automotive, manufacturing, and precision engineering.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Programming CMM Machines:
  • Develop, modify, and execute CMM programs using specialized software (such as PC-DMIS, Calypso, or similar) to measure parts based on engineering drawings, CAD models, or 3D data.
  • Ensure the CMM machine is calibrated and functioning properly before running the measurements.
  • Conducting Part Inspections:
  • Use the CMM to measure physical dimensions, angles, and tolerances of parts, comparing them to design specifications.
  • Record and analyze data to identify discrepancies, ensuring that parts meet required standards.
  • Analyzing Results:
  • Interpret and analyze measurement results and make decisions about product quality.
  • Troubleshoot and resolve issues that arise during the inspection process, such as inaccuracies or machine malfunctions.
  • Collaboration with Engineering Teams:
  • Work closely with design engineers to understand the specifications and tolerances of the parts.
  • Provide feedback on potential design changes if parts consistently fail to meet specifications.
  • Calibration and Maintenance:
  • Regularly calibrate the CMM machine to maintain measurement accuracy.
  • Perform routine maintenance and troubleshooting of the CMM equipment to prevent downtime.
  • Documentation and Reporting:
  • Document inspection results and maintain detailed records of measurements, reports, and test results.
  • Prepare reports for quality assurance, production teams, or management on the results of the inspections and any necessary corrective actions.
  • Training and Mentoring:
  • Provide training for new operators and team members on CMM programming and inspection processes.
  • Ensure adherence to safety protocols and best practices.
  • Quality Control:
  • Ensure compliance with industry standards, safety regulations, and quality control procedures.
  • Participate in continuous improvement initiatives to optimize measurement and inspection processes.
  • Software and Machine Optimization:
  • Optimize CMM programs for efficiency, reducing measurement time without sacrificing accuracy.
  • Stay up-to-date on CMM technology and software advancements to continually improve measurement capabilities.

Skills and Qualifications:

  • Proficient in CMM programming software (e.g., PC-DMIS, Calypso).
  • Strong understanding of geometric dimensioning and tolerancing (GD&T).
  • Experience with 3D CAD systems and part drawings.
  • Strong problem-solving and analytical skills.
  • Attention to detail and precision.
  • Knowledge of manufacturing processes and machining techniques.
  • Familiarity with CMM machine operation and maintenance.
  • Strong communication and collaboration skills.

Educational Requirements:

  • A degree or certification in mechanical engineering, metrology, or a related field is often preferred.
